The Competitive Spike Displacement Hypothesis

Published research by Dr. Marco Leitzke and colleagues demonstrates that SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein contains sequence motifs homologous to snake neurotoxins (bungarotoxin) that bind irreversibly to alpha-7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (α7nAChR) on brain microglia and peripheral macrophages. This blocks endogenous acetylcholine signaling, paralyzing the body's natural cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. Exogenous nicotine has approximately 30-fold higher binding affinity than spike fragments, competitively displacing viral remnants and restoring normal autonomic neurotransmission PMID: 36683544.
